Sell your Ford F-150, Explorer, Escape or Ranger

Pickups, SUVs and cars, running or not. Here’s what to tell us about each.

  • Ford F-150

Ford’s full-size pickup. Tell us the cab and bed size, the engine, and whether it’s four-wheel drive, and show any rust underneath.

  • Ford Escape

Ford’s compact SUV, gas or hybrid. Mention whether it has all-wheel drive, and any warning lights.

  • Ford Explorer

Ford’s three-row midsize SUV. Photos of all three rows and the cargo area show its condition.

  • Ford Fusion

Ford’s midsize sedan, gas or hybrid, sold through the 2020 model year. High-mileage Fusions are welcome.

  • Ford Focus

Ford’s compact car, sedan or hatchback, sold in the U.S. through the 2018 model year. Tell us how the transmission shifts.

  • Ford Edge

Ford’s two-row midsize SUV. Tell us the engine and whether it has all-wheel drive.

  • Ford Ranger

Ford’s smaller pickup. On an older Ranger, check the airbag recall below, and show the frame in your photos.

  • Ford Mustang

Ford’s sports car, coupe or convertible. Tell us about modifications, and on a convertible, whether the top works.

What affects your Ford’s offer

Mileage and condition count for every car. These are the Ford-specific things to tell us about.

  • Takata airbags in older Rangers

Ford warned owners of 2004–2006 Rangers with unrepaired Takata driver airbag inflators not to drive them except to a dealer for the free repair. If yours is one, tell us whether it’s been fixed.

  • PowerShift transmissions

The PowerShift automatic in 2011–2016 Fiestas and 2012–2016 Focuses led to a class-action settlement, and Ford extended warranty coverage on many of them. Tell us how yours shifts, and about any transmission repairs.

  • Aluminum F-150 bodies

From the 2015 model year, the F-150 has an aluminum-alloy body and bed on a steel frame. Show any body damage clearly in your photos, along with the frame.

  • Open recalls

Recall repairs are free at an authorized dealer, so it’s worth checking your VIN or plate before you sell.

How selling your Ford works

  1. Tell us about your car

The year, model, mileage and how it runs, plus a few photos.

  2. Review your offer

It usually comes back in minutes and is good for 7 days or 300 miles. There’s no obligation.

  3. Hand over the keys. Get paid.

We pick it up wherever it’s parked, for free, and pay you at pickup once the title is signed.

  • Check for open recalls with your VIN or plate. Recall repairs are free at an authorized dealer. NHTSA recall lookup
  • Remove the vehicle from the Ford app (formerly FordPass), and cancel or transfer any connected services.
  • Clear your phone, garage codes and saved addresses from the dashboard screen.
  • Find every key and fob, and have the title in your name with no loans or liens on it.

Questions about selling a Ford.

What Ford owners ask us most.

Do you buy Fords with high mileage?

Yes. Older and high-mileage Fords are welcome. Tell us the mileage and condition as they are, and the offer reflects it.

Will you buy a Ford that doesn’t run?

Yes, and pickup is still free. It just needs to be somewhere a tow truck can reach.

Do you buy Ford trucks?

Yes: F-150s, Super Duty pickups and Rangers, as well as Ford SUVs, vans and cars.

Will you buy a Focus or Fiesta with transmission problems?

Yes. We buy cars with mechanical problems, and cars that don’t run. Tell us what it’s doing, and the offer reflects it.

Do I need my Ford’s service records?

No, but they help, especially records of transmission or engine work.

Is Sell My Car Online part of Ford?

No. We’re an independent car buyer that buys directly from owners, Ford owners included.
