Sell My Car Online is a brand of Junk Car Medics LLC (“Sell My Car Online,” “we,” “us” or “our”). This policy explains what information we collect when you visit sellmycaronline.com or our offer form at my.sellmycaronline.com, request an offer, sell us your car, or talk to us by phone, text or email, and what we do with it.

The short version

When you request an offer, Sell My Car Online receives the details you give us. We use them to make your offer, arrange pickup, buy your car and pay you.
We don’t sell or rent your contact details to other car buyers, dealers or lead marketplaces.
We use Plausible Analytics, which doesn’t use cookies or collect personal data. We also use advertising tags from Google, Meta and Microsoft to measure and show our ads. You can opt out of ad tracking at any time.
You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP.
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information by emailing privacy@sellmycaronline.com.

Information we collect

Information you give us

Contact details: your name, phone number and email address.
Vehicle details: year, make, model, trim, mileage, VIN, condition, photos, and anything else you tell us about the car.
Pickup details: where the car is parked and when you’re available.
Ownership details: title status, the name on the title, and any loan or lien on the vehicle.
Identity and payment details: when we complete a purchase, we may need to see your government-issued ID and record its details to verify ownership and complete the title transfer. We also collect what we need to pay you.
Communications: messages you send us and notes from our calls with you. If we record a call, we’ll tell you at the start.

Information collected automatically

Device and usage information: IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the page that referred you, and the date and time of your visit.
Advertising tags: tags from Google, Meta and Microsoft use cookies, pixels and similar technology. See Advertising and analytics.

Information from other sources

Vehicle data providers, such as VIN decoding and vehicle history services, to confirm details about your car.
Advertising platforms, which tell us which ads led to visits and offer requests.
Public records, such as title and lien records, when we need them to complete a sale.

How we use your information

To make you an offer and explain how we arrived at it.
To schedule and complete pickup.
To verify ownership, complete the title transfer and other paperwork, and pay you.
To contact you about your offer and sale by phone, text and email.
To answer questions and provide support.
To prevent fraud and vehicle theft, and to comply with the laws that apply to buying vehicles, including record-keeping and reporting to motor vehicle agencies.
To understand how people use our site and improve it.
To measure our advertising and show our ads to people who may want to sell a car, including people who have visited our site.
With your consent, to send you marketing messages.

Sell My Car Online receives the information you submit. We don’t sell or rent your contact details to other car buyers, dealers or lead marketplaces. We share information only in these cases:

Service providers that work for us under contract and may use the information only to provide their services to us. These include website hosting and security (Cloudflare), analytics (Plausible), phone, text and email providers, payment providers, and towing or transport companies that pick up cars on our behalf.
Advertising partners. Google, Meta and Microsoft receive information through tags on our site, as described in Advertising and analytics.
Government agencies and legal requirements. We share information with motor vehicle agencies and other authorities when the law requires it, for example to transfer a title or report a vehicle purchase. We also share it to respond to valid legal process, prevent fraud or theft, and protect the rights and safety of our customers, our team and others.
Business transfers. If Junk Car Medics LLC or the Sell My Car Online brand is sold, merged or reorganized, information may transfer as part of that transaction, and this policy will continue to apply to it.
With your permission. We’ll share information with anyone else you ask us to.

All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information won’t be shared with any third parties.

Text messages and calls

When you give us your phone number and agree to be contacted, Sell My Car Online may call and text you about your offer, your pickup and your sale, including with automated technology. If you text us first, we text you back about your message. Agreeing to receive marketing calls or texts is never a condition of selling your car.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to stop texts. Reply HELP for help, or email privacy@sellmycaronline.com.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. Service providers that deliver our messages may use your number only to deliver them.
Wireless carriers aren’t liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Advertising and analytics

Plausible Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics to count visits and see which pages people find useful. Plausible doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t collect personal data, and doesn’t track you across other websites. It counts unique visitors using a daily-changing, salted hash of your IP address and browser details, and it doesn’t store your IP address.

Advertising tags

We use advertising tags from Google (Google Ads), Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Microsoft (Microsoft Advertising). These tags may set cookies or read identifiers on your device. They collect information such as your IP address, browser and device details, the pages you view, and actions you take on our site, such as requesting an offer. We use this to:

measure which ads lead to visits and offer requests;
show our ads to people who have visited our site (remarketing); and
reach people who are likely to want to sell a car.

When we use conversion-matching features, such as Google’s enhanced conversions or Meta’s Conversions API, we may send a hashed (encoded) version of your email address or phone number. The platform uses it to match the conversion to an account it already has.

Under some state privacy laws, using advertising tags like these counts as “selling” or “sharing” personal information, or as “targeted advertising.” You can opt out, as described below.

Your privacy choices

Opt out of ad tracking. To opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising, email privacy@sellmycaronline.com with the subject “Opt out”, or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a valid opt-out request for that browser.
Platform settings. Manage how ads are shown to you in Google My Ad Center, Meta ad preferences and Microsoft ad settings.
Industry opt-outs. Use the Digital Advertising Alliance and Network Advertising Initiative opt-out tools.
Cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Our site works without cookies, and Plausible doesn’t use them.
Texts and email. Reply STOP to any text, or use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. We may still contact you about a sale that’s in progress.
Do Not Track. There’s no agreed standard for browser Do Not Track signals, so we don’t respond to them. We do honor Global Privacy Control.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon and other states with privacy laws, you may have the right to:

know what personal information we have about you and how we use and share it, and get a copy of it;
correct inaccurate information;
delete your information;
opt out of the sale or sharing of your information and of targeted advertising; and
appeal if we deny your request.

How to make a request. Email privacy@sellmycaronline.com with the subject “Privacy request”. Tell us what you’d like us to do and the phone number or email address you used with us. We’ll verify your request by matching it to information we already have. You can also use an authorized agent, who will need your written permission. We’ll respond within the time the law requires, usually 45 days.

Some information may need to be kept even after you ask us to delete it, such as records of a completed vehicle purchase that the law requires us to keep. We’ll tell you if that applies.

No discrimination. We won’t deny you service, charge you a different price or give you a worse offer for exercising your privacy rights.

Appeals. If we deny your request, reply to our decision with the word “Appeal” and we’ll review it. If you’re not satisfied with the result, you can contact your state attorney general.

California notice

In the past 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information:

We collect this information from you, your device, vehicle data providers, advertising platforms and public records, for the purposes described in How we use your information. We use sensitive personal information only to verify your identity, complete the sale and pay you, and not to infer anything about you. We don’t knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

How long we keep information

Offer requests that don’t lead to a sale: as long as we need them to follow up with you and keep accurate business records. After that, we delete them or remove the details that identify you.
Completed purchases: as long as motor vehicle, tax and other laws require, plus a reasonable period to resolve any disputes.
Advertising and analytics data: according to each platform’s retention settings.

How we protect information

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encrypted connections and limiting access to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information, we’ll notify you as the law requires, including under New York’s SHIELD Act.

Children

Our services are for adults. You must be 18 or older to sell a vehicle to us. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email privacy@sellmycaronline.com and we’ll delete it.

Links to other websites

Our site links to other websites, such as the privacy pages of our advertising partners. Their privacy practices are their own, so please read their policies.

Changes to this policy

When we update this policy, we’ll change the effective date at the top. If we make a material change, we’ll post a notice on our site or contact you directly.
